VISION GOALS
If you are under age 40 laser refractive surgery will give you BOTH distance and near vision. As you age your lens of your eye loses your ability to accommodate and see at near - this is usually after age 40. This is when many people begin using reading glasses or bifocals. If you are over age 40 and have laser refractive surgery you will be given different options. 1. Straight distance vision and use of reading glasses for near. This is good for those who lead an active outdoor lifestyle. 2. Mono Vision where one eye is treated for distance vision and one eye is treated for near vision. This is good for those who do both distance and near tasks regularly. 3. Modified near vision - this is useful for very near sighted or far sighted persons who work at small near tasks most of the time. Each person needs to be evaluated and counseled as to which type of vision meets their wants and needs. |
