iLASIK Technology

CustomVue WaveScan CustomVue uses WaveScan® technology which creates a detailed map of each patient's eye, the WavePrintT Map. The map is then used during the treatment phase to perform the vision correction.

WaveScan technology was originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes to reduce distortions when viewing distant objects in space. This technology has now been applied to laser vision correction, measuring imperfections in the eye never before measured using standard methods for glasses and contact lenses.

Astigmatism

WaveScan-based digital technology identifies and measures imperfections in your eyes 25 times more precisely than standard methods. In addition, WaveScan digital information is transferred to the laser, driving a new level of precision and accuracy.

This new level of precision provided by the WaveScan T System overcomes the limitations of previous technology, delivering unprecedented resolution to ensure the most effective individualized advanced laser treatment available today: Advanced CustomVueT

Intralase "Blade-free" Laser The IntraLase MethodT is the first blade-free laser technology for performing the critical first step of the LASIK procedure: creating the flap. Unlike the microkeratome blade, which cuts across the cornea to create the flap, The IntraLase MethodT creates the flap from below the surface of the cornea. The IntraLase FS60T Laser uses an infrared beam of light to precisely position tiny microscopic bubbles within the central layer of the cornea to define the flap's dimensions and distinct beveled edge, as well as the location of the hinge. Thousands of these bubbles are then stacked along the edge of the flap to the corneal surface to complete the flap. The flap is then lifted to allow for treatment by the VISX STAR S4T Excimer Laser. When the treatment is complete, the flap is repositioned, a process made more accurate by the distinct beveled edge. This computer-guided technology provides for the highest-precision surgical control.

VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser The VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser is used to "sculpt" the cornea of the eye. VISX, Incorporated is recognized worldwide for bringing innovation and breakthrough technology to laser vision correction. VISX is the only FDA-approved laser able to provide Wavefront-guided treatment for farsighted or mixed astigmatism prescriptions. VISX also has the only FDA-approved automated Iris Registration. All of Dr. Lipsky's laser eye surgery procedures are performed with the Excimer laser, a computerized cold laser that uses ultraviolet light. Coupled with the VISX STAR S4T software, the Excimer laser represents the most up-to-date technology proven successful for LASIK surgery.

Iris Registration VISX TechnologyT Iris Registration (IR) is the first FDA-approved, fully automated method of aligning and registering wavefront corrections for the Advanced CustomVueT treatment.

It's normal for the pupil to shift from the time an eye is measured to the time of treatment. Iris Registration is an alignment method that provides greater accuracy and, unlike commonly used ink-based methods in which the eye is literally marked with a pen, IR is not time sensitive, leaving the physician free to take their time without having to be concerned with re-registering the treatment should the ink markings dissolve. An obvious advancement over standard alignment practices, IR achieves cyclotorsional alignment by automatically linking a patient's diagnostic information with the laser treatment. IR then centers the treatment correctly, independent of changes in the pupil center from measurement to treatment.

All of this translates to more peace of mind for you, the patient, as you can rest assured that any movement of your eye during the procedure will not jeopardize either the accuracy of the treatment or your surgery.

3-D Autotracking The most advanced laser on the market today, the STAR S4's active eye-tracking system captures all three dimensions of intra-operative eye movement, automatically compensating for each eye movement. Securing eye alignment allows for a more precise procedure and optimal results.
